About Me | The Programmer

I've been surrounded by technology since I was a small child. My father passed on his love of technology and computers to me. Before I was even born, my father had built his own computer from the ground up. He worked his way up the ladder and is currently a network engineer for the Federal Reserve Bank. My father is a huge source of inspiration and support for me, both in and out of my professional life.

My first endeavor into the programming field came when I was in middle school. My favorite school supply was my fancy new TI-84 calculator. After playing plenty of Puzzle Games and Block Dude, I was curious to see what I could make myself. Over time, I taught myself the fundamentals of programming in BASIC and made programs to help with math homework, and even games to play on the bus rides. I realized I had an affinity for programming, and wanted to learn as much as I could about it.

In high school, I picked up Java and HTML in formal classes. I signed myself up to take every class on computers they offered. I was so ahead in the class that my teacher genuinely thought I was a senior when I was just a freshman. I also took an interest in the other aspects of computers; how they communicate, and how they work mechanically.

I entered college pursuing a degree in chemistry, leaving my programming as a hobby. But after taking two computer science courses in my first year and learning Python, I realized that I was in the wrong major. I switched the focus of my education to computer science, and I've been devoted to learning everything I can. Aside from college classes, I also began looking into networking. I prepared myself for the CCNA certification exam on an off semester.

Most recently, I have taken the exciting step of learning to write programs for mobile devices. I enjoy challenging myself with new and complex projects like this. I will graduate from Saint Paul College in May 2019 with an AAS in Computer Programming.

I believe that everyone should have a chance to do what they love. Computers are my passion, and my goal is to turn that passion into a career.

About Me | The Person

Aside from being a software developer, I am a soccer player and referee, a Vikings football fanatic, and a husband-to-be. I enjoy running, playing board games with friends, playing computer games, and spending time with my fiancee. I love everything to do with space and space travel. I am a singer and have sung in a number of choral groups in my life, including the Minnesota Boychoir for 9 years. I was born and raised in Roseville, Minnesota (go Raiders!) and live there now.
